Left Overs for Dinner...

Last night we went for dinner to Phil's Original BBQ with a couple of friends. Food was amazing and plentiful. We took what we couldn't finish home with us, and had it for dinner tonight.

BBQ chicken sandwich with a rib on the side. We also decided to have our plum pudding that Mark brought for us from England for dessert.
Of course we had to flambe it... we had no brandy, but vodka worked just as well...
a couple scoops of French vanilla ice cream finished off the dish...

Christmas Eve Dinner Desserts by Justyna...

Our resident Martha Stewart (not sure if she likes this comparison, but she's that good). We were wowed by pinwheel cookies, cinnamon and nut braids, the most velvety cheesecake ever (which as you can see in the pictures, was violated by Kinga. If you could taste it, you'd understand why.), and a wonderfully soft, moist, chocolaty-orange torte.... yummmy

Our Christmas Trees

They're both a bit shorter than a Christmas card... extremely easy to put up and to take down... no mess, no fuss :)

Early Christmas Present from Jay...

love them...

I made cookie baskets this year

Five to be exact... I forgot how much work cookies can be, but they were delicious. I made:
- Cranberry Pistachio Biscotti
- Blood Orange Madelines
- Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies
- Lemon and Poppy Seed Crisps

Cheese soufflĂ© and greens for dinner…

Jasmine Fairy Tea

A very awesome birthday present... it tastes very nice too...

Ten minutes to dress them, 5 minutes to walk them... but it has to be done...

Winter Wonderland !!!

I can't remember ever experiencing a snowstorm like this. It's fabulous. People are hating it, I'm loving it. I was up early this morning and made it to work by 7. If the streetcars are running so am I.

So snowy...
Dominion closed at noon, just as I was going to get my lunch. Bunch of woosies... I had to live on chips.
Isn't it pretty...
Sidewalks kept disappearing... My $40 (6 month waterproof guarantee) Winners boots are the best buy ever for shuffling my way through, warm and dry... money well spent.
I decided to walk home
1. because if I waited for a streetcar, I would get cold and miserable very quickly
2. I had my awesome boots on
3. there was no slush just mountains of white fluff to climb through
someone will have lots of fun digging their bicycle out...
King Street... I was dreaming about a horse drawn sled... faster than a streetcar in this weather.
streetcar pile up at Spadina and King... it took me 30 min to walk to this point, no streetcar going my way has passed me yet... I made a wise choice... awesome exercise, and I was very warm...
love the white stuff...
final stretch home...
I don't think they'll be biking anytime soon...
love my view...
can you see the joy in my eyes? :)

Swarovski Christmas Tree at Eaton Center

Floor at William Ashley

Birthday Cake

Saturday the 8th I had a surprise birthday dinner at Six Steps, with my sisters, and Mike and Jay. The meal was wonderful. We took pictures, but they were kind of bad, none are worth posting. Maybe next time...

Jay and I made it home by midnight for two reasons:
1. I'm old and it was way past my bedtime
2. So we can have cake and champagne as the clock strikes 12...

My birthday cake: Zuger- Kirsch Torte from Stubbe
along with some bubbly...
pink.. my fave...
lighting the candles... all 31 of them... 1 for luck
almost there...
it took me a while to get my wish together...
yummy cake
by the way I have awesome lungs, I wasn't even halfway through my first blow, and they were all out... no smoking is paying off :)
