Bones...

Jay roasted off two bones for our girls today... they loved them... kept them busy for a couple of hours and now they're passed out from bonny bliss...

Monkfish stew for dinner..

served on a bed of fresh baby spinach....
a very delicious and satisfying spa meal :)

My girls see kleenex as their mortal enemy... if within reach it must be destroyed...

I also made dinner...

my garlic looked a bit overripe but it still roasted up nicely... I used the whole head in my mashed potatoes...this is my main course: Provolone and Prosciutto Stuffed Pork Chops with Roasted Red Seedless Grapes
plated together: pork chop, grapes, mashed potatoes, and baby arugula salad
mmmmmmmmm....
yum, yum...
some sauce, which I also made.....
cutting into the chop... look at the cheese.... super tender, moist, delicious....
when I do cook, I'm a superstar.... 5 years of my life spent cooking professionally, thinking I wanted to be a chef was time well invested....

Dirty Dancing

...the final installment of my birthday present. The show was great. First act was a perfect replication, scene for scene of the movie, dialogue and all, quite amazing really, and fun to watch (especially since I lost count how many times I've seen the movie). The second act had a few additions, but all the main scenes were there, the actors seemed to be the original Dirty Dancing cast, especially Penny, tall, lean, incredibly flexible, and an amazing dancer. I love live theater... and I loved how close we were too the stage, almost too close :)...

I made breakfast today...

some freshly squeezed blood orange juice ...
all the condiments we might need...note there are three different maple syrups...
and here it is.... super fluffy delicious pancakes (made from scratch not from a box) with blueberries and bananas, and a French sausage because I always like something savory for breakfast....

Chipotle Beef Quesadillas with Jason's Guacamole

we drank this red wine, because the label on the battle recommends it for strongly flavored dishes, and trust me this dinner had some awesome strong flavor...yum...
oh yes there is a slice of Monterey Pepper Jack cheese ... for that extra kick ...

Red Room

Neighbors across the street had new carpet installed... Maybe posting this picture says something about me... but it's a bad picture that doesn't show anything other than the red carpet ... their widows really stand out compared to all others... It just makes me wonder...

The Making of a Sandwich

On Friday Jay made us a sandwich for dinner. I was responsible for bringing home bread for it. I picked a nice fresh square chiabatta. There is a corner missing, because I got hungry.... it happens.

a layer of caramelized onions
followed by a layer of grilled sweet potatoes...
some Havarti cheese...
and roasted hot banana peppers...
a bit of salt and pepper... plus at this point Jason toasted the sandwich a bit to melt the cheese...
here is a freshly roasted turkey breast... Jason style...
continuing with the sandwich.... a layer of green onions that were roasted with the turkey...
and then the said turkey... sliced of course..
some baby greens...
and the top of the bread, smeared with some homemade Dijon aioli....
yummmy..... sandwiches are great....

V-Day Dinner

starting off with some fabulous pink champagne...love the top of the cork...
ahhh pink bubbles...
it's delicious...
and some crackers... these were especially made to go with champagne...
or at least that's what the box says...
they were actually quite good...
and Jason made us dinner:
grilled organic halibut topped with cilantro and lime
on a salad bed composed of: grilled pineapple, red pepper, tomatillos, cilantro, tossed in a lime and tequila dressing
which rested on top of some mini purple roasted potatoes
and all this was surrounded by pomegranate reduction
a little bit of everything on my fork... absolutely delicious...
for dessert: passion fruit mascarpone cheese panna cotta
some hot water for unmolding...
5 second dip...
here we go...
looks sooo good...
served with some raspberries and blackberries..
it was incredibly velvety....
