Dinner 12: Thursday June 26th, 2008

It was all on me this week… Jay had to work very late… so it was just the girls… we had some kind of Australian white with our meal

To start I made Bruschetta. My version is composed of plum tomatoes, red onion, garlic, feta cheese, black olives, basil, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper, and a bit of Parmesan cheese on top…I bit of a rerun when it came to the main, however since I never made it and the girls never had it, the rule hasn't been broken. The main was an interpretation of Jamie Olivers rustic Italian beans with scallops, drizzled with the best extra virgin olive oil I've ever had…
Kinga volunteered for dessert duty… we had Pączki which instead of the traditional prune filling were full of custard… delicious but nothing tops the classic…

St. James' Cathedral

it's like a Smurf's house..

Jason's favorite breakfast place…

Le Petit Dejeuner on King St.

lattes to start
I enjoyed a delicious omelet with spinach and brie alongside potato rosti, apple coleslaw and toast and Jay started his day with Toast Champignon, which is sautéed mushrooms, bacon, and shallots, spilled over half a bagel and topped with a poached egg served with potato rosti and apple coleslaw

one of the reasons I can't live without a delinter…

we rearranged our closet to discourage this kind of behavior… we failed… she seems to like the new set up a lot better…

Tuesday night dinner

we went to Cowbell, a place that proudly uses organic and local produce, and makes everything in house and I mean everything... the menu is written on two chalkboards and changes daily as well as during the service...a couple of drinks to start, Jay: Amaretto and ginger ale, Me: vodka and soda with lemonour menu board for the evening...
bread basket.. while simple, it is made in house...
a very delicious bottle of wine....
I had the duck soup to start... it was almost too salty, but very tasty at the same time....
Jay had the trout mousseline... yum
for the main, I went with the beef. I was craving it... I never had it so rare, but enjoyed it very much...
Jay had the pork... wow to the belly, it was very tender and delicious...
Dessert time!
for me croissants with cherries and ice cream... I could have this for breakfast :)
Jason had Cowbell s'mores... with hand made marshmallows and a warm brownie... divine
the menu at the end of the night... slightly changed
