yesterday I wrote a little blurb about the fact that Justyna and Mike are expecting a girl… I also included a picture of pink lights, because it's a girl, and she's not here yet, and I just liked the picture… (see post below)…

fast-forward to about 11:45pm Tuesday night...
we're unwinding after work watching Jay Leno...
Jay is also checking his emails and surfing the net… checks out my blog
Jay: "Is that Justyna's ultrasound picture?"

they're 99% sure it's a girl...

Sometime at the end of September, beginning of October Justyna and Mike will become parents... and I will become an aunt.

I was very excited when I found out (in March)... but my excitement didn't come close to my mom's... she was ready to be a grandma for years, and soon she will be.

...I can hardly wait to learn her name... :)

Sunday dinner on a Saturday...

roast prime rib...a bottle of red...
side sauces... Dijon mustard, BBQ, and horseradish...
with some buttermilk mashed potatoes and green beans with shallots...
for dessert... indulgence...
Jay's chocolate and chocolate cake...
and for me Jamoca Almond Fudge cake...

a treat from Holland...

we've lived in this neighborhood for about 3 years now... this past weekend we've finally visited our local beer store... love the walk in fridge..

the wavy bridge/sidewalk is almost done...

Today while rushing from one class to another, I really needed to go...
weak bladder + coffee = lots of frequent washroom visits
It was 12:30pm, and my class starts at 12:30pm...
I hate being late, but nature calls.
I run downstairs and make straight for the washroom...
as I rush in, a voice in my mind yells "WRONG!"
I stop...
it takes me a couple seconds to realize that the layout is all wrong, and there is a row of urinals against the wall...
me: "oh F#@%k"...
I turn around and slowly walk out... I didn't want to draw any attention to myself...


exams don't start until next week and I'm already loosing my marbles...

the city of Toronto has finally provided us with recycling containers…

and I realized I used to recycle a lot of things that are on the "Do Not Recycle" list…

Tamil protest on the Gardiner Expressway...

Sunday night around 7pm the Tamil protesters took over the Gardiner by walking up the Spadina ramp, and the traffic in my neighborhood came to a stop. We weren't aware of this as we were enjoying dinner in Brampton. We did learn of it on the way back along with thousands of other people. Usually it takes us around 35min to get back home from my Mom's, last night it took us a little bit over 2 hours.

no traffic either way on Gardiner... all the cars down there are police vehicles... or on Spadina...
there were so many police officers... those in their full riot gear were a bit scary...
a bit after midnight, the protesters started to leave the Gardiner...
and marched up Spadina chanting "No more genocide!"... with police escort of course...
I can't disagree with the protest... thousands of people are dying... I hope this has heleped their cause...

Mother's Day Dinner...

we all came together and purchased this awesome BBQ...and Karolina has outdone herself once again...
spicy shrimp...
mini potatoes with dill...
mmmmm chicken wings....
grilled veggie medley...
green beans...
Jay and I brought dessert... a Godiva Temptation Cake from Noisette Pastry Works...
"Alternating layers of hazelnut and chocolate sponge cakes. Rich chocolate cream and hazelnut buttercream create the fillings. Covered in chocolate, surrounded and pierced with shards of almond brittle"
The cake was to celebrate two events... however I forgot to purchase birthday candles... and Kinga had to blow out a tea light...
everyone agreed that it was one of the best cakes ever...

they turned out to be $0.10 each…

I need to become more aware while I shop and pay attention to price tags...

it was raining...

she's miserable when she's wet...
