Dinner: Friday May 25th/07

Dinner was so good and healthy this weak. We started off with Jason's pomtinis and they were so delicious.. strong and not sweet.. just the way I like them

We had some small apps to start…

Then we had Jay's version of Bi-Bim-Bop… soba noodles in peanut sauce, topped with an assortment of fresh veggies, marinated eggplant, and tofu.. so delicious. But the bowls turned out to be too huge for all of us, lunch for next day

And for dessert.. macerated strawberries and raspberries in a bit of sugar and Grand Marnier with chocolate cigars…

duhhhhh

So I find myself a little discombobulated lately... well actually to some degree I've been "spacey" for the past 2 years.. working full time and trying to do the school thing full time sometimes feels a bit much…

Today I managed to get back home before 10 (lucky draw on the TTC), Jay is working late so I know the dogs are starved for attention. When I get home I like to take my 20 pounds of animals for a walk within 15 minutes, so I'm kind of lazy in taking off my shoes (because they have laces and strangely the older I get, the harder time I have tying a good lace.. so once I have a well tied shoe, I don't like to untie them unless I know for sure that it will be for an extended period of time). As well our carpet is kind of light and I'm anal about trying to keep it that color for as long as possible. So as soon as one walks in to our place there is a closet on the left, inside the closet is a container with plastic bags (pooper scoopers, one can never have too many).. what I do is, slip a bag on each shoe and shuffle my way to the bedroom to get the girls.

I did that today, gave the girls a treat each so they'd stop screaming at me (yes .. yes… I know I'm only reinforcing that behavior), and was about to take them out but got sidetracked by the kitchen counter on which stood 3 different bottles of sauces and some crackers. Jay must have brought them, and I couldn't wait or resist and had to have a sample of each right then and there… they were delicious (orange-ginger-chili-garlic sauce, peanut sauce, and sesame vinaigrette). Then I shuffled my way to the door, slipped the leashes on the dogs and out we were.

In the elevator, on our way down we stopped twice. On the first one, a woman walked in, she took a step back when she saw the dogs, and looked at me…. I thought relax lady, they look like ankle biters but they're not. On the second stop a man got in looked at the dogs and said "Hello troublemakers.." , then looked at the dogs, looked at me.. looked at the dogs, frowned… and kept on staring at the dogs..

We made it to the ground floor, the door opened, the woman walked out kind of quickly, the guy was going further down so he stepped back and as I walked out I heard this shuffling noise... looked down.. and yup sure enough I was still wearing the bags over my shoes on my feet… I think I sort of called for "Jesus Christ" under my breath but he didn't answer… I looked back, and the guy was just starring at me with this bewildered look on his face... I can't even imagine what he must have been thinking…

… seriously I don't know how I didn't notice the Dominon bags on my feet…

… I'm loosing my marbles…

Good Eats...

Last night's dinner was so simple and yet again delicious. We had small burger patties topped with jalapeno cheese and mixed greens salad with tomato-cucumber-red onion vinaigrette. We also tried a new drink made with cacacha (also known as Brazilian rum) which is made from sugar cane. The drink is called Caphirinia, and its sugar mulled with sliced lime topped with ice and cacacha. It was a bit strong so Jay fixed it up by adding a bit of white cranberry juice… not bad… but not as good as the one made at Milestones… have to go for appetizers and figure out how they mix their caphirinia…
