dinner

red for sipping...steak sandwiches with sweet potato, and homemade ketchup, with Cesar salad...
for dessert: buttermilk biscuits with jam...

I bought them for the "Refrigerate after opening" sign...

Jay made breakfast...

pancakes with sauteed bananas, warm maple syrup, and bacon.... yum

I made breakfast

bacon, eggs over easy, and regular and sweet potato hash with a bit of onion and green pepper... it was good...

our shelves have arrived

made by Jay's dad... the artist has also signed each of his creations...
look how pretty...
gorgeous...
love the knots...
finally all my books are organized and alphabetized...
look I still have space to add more books...
our cooking library...

sometimes you just need a beer and a chicken wing

asian bbq flavor for me...
medium for Jay...

last days of food gathering

it's burger time

number one in the city is from Jay's kitchen.... and there is nothing quite like paring it with a nice bottle of red...

it's ALIVE!!!

I thought I killed the strawberries last year when I sun baked them on our balcony till they were crispy weeds... but it seems one little stubborn seed survived and was revived by all the rain this season... maybe I'll have my own strawberries yet...

is he on sale as well...

afternoon snack

from Pusateri's... where we did our shopping for dinner

I'd love to see them setting it up…

brunch

we finally have Sunday's off together... we went to Globe Bistro for brunch...

some ice water and a taste of today's feature smoothie banana-pineapple... it was ok, not our favorite flavor combination
coffee of course... this was thick, and I mean it... but good...
my choice
EGGS: three poached eggs, tortilla, chimichurri, aged cheddar, pico de gallo, sour cream Hollandiaise
good... but I wish I had some meat on my plate as well
Jay's choice
THE FRY-UP: two eggs your choice, smoked bacon, Niagara sausage, black pudding, roast tomato, field mushroom, champ cake, baked beans, sourdough toast
wow... what a buffet... he shared some of his meat with me
Overall brunch was delicious and affordable, we will be back. The only criticism I have is the lack of waiter attention, I wish I had a refill of the tar coffee, and a bit of fresh cracked pepper on my eggs, oh and ketchup for Jay's bacon...

Jason came to a decision today…

he decided we are not going to have children, because he does not like the way I've raised the ones we have now…. (he was referring to our pets Honey, Cherry, and Kicia, but mostly Honey since we had her since she was a puppy)… but I must clarify that this decision was made on our way to brunch… he was a bit weak and probably did not realize that she is a total psychological reflection of her main owner… me… :)

odd little flower...

he knows me

yesterday I went with Jay to Budget to return a car we rented
Jay went up to the counter to settle the bill and I sat down in one of the waiting chairs, took my book out (never leave home without one) and started to read
suddenly Carm walked in (she knows Jay very well and as a result I guess she knows me)
says hi to Jay and myself, and asks me

Carm: "Do you like to read, are you a big reader?"

Me: "Yeah, I love it."

Jay: "She lives there."

so true.... so true.... :)

he is the best…

a token of appreciation Jay received today for a job well done… 25 bottles of white and 24 of red… there is just the two of us… it's a good thing holiday season is around the corner

Sunday brunch...

we ventured to Joy Bistro... it constantly receives positive reviews, and we just wanted to find out what all the talk is about...coffee to start of course...
Jay had: Eggs Teddy
Two poached eggs with peameal bacon, spinach, roasted tomatoes, grilled onion and hollandaise on a toasted English muffin
I had French toast with a fruit salad and real maple syrup...
the meal was good but there was nothing outstanding about it... there are better places in the city for brunch...
