little bit of seafood on Good Friday

we went to Starfish (we've been planing to for a while now, we just kept putting it off)drinks to start: cream ale for Jay and apple cider for me... it was good clean cider...
our bread basket... I was glad to see variety
and a dozen oysters to start... 6 different types (2 of each)... each one had sightly different flavor and scent, and each one was delicious...
look how pretty...
there is quite a size difference between types... the little one was so cute, it was called Beausoleil...
the prettiest empty shell..
now for our mains... Jay strayed from the seafood theme and had a grilled bershire pork chop with oyster stuffing, 20 hour apples and swiss chard... a comment: the stuffing was not in the pork chop... it's the stuff on top of the swiss chard.... the 20 hour apples is the little rectangle on the left side of the picture... thinly sliced stacked apples... maybe they're baked for 20 hours maybe not... they were cold, but delicious... wish it was a bigger slice...
I had salmon with a leek, potato, turnip slice, cheddar cheese biscuit and Guinness mustard sauce... comment: more Guinness less mustard in the sauce please :), biscuit was tiny and over baked, but the salmon was perfect as well as the veggies...
sticky toffee pudding for dessert... served pipping hot (possibly nuked)... but it was soo good... we shared it...

I picked them up

look no shoes!

it's getting warmer, the ground is dry, there is no ice or salt to hurt their feet…

it's still here, but slowly melting

bad driver...

this is not a road... it's a pedestrian shortcut behind our compound... he or she is doing a u-turn... a tad closer and I'd see the fool's license plate...

Dinner 9: Thursday, March 20th/08

It was an odd one this week, a bit of a schmorgesborg with a touch of Mexican...

Coleslaw..
Macaroni salad... even better than KFC..
some light beers...
with lime of course...
cachapas with cheese, dill, bbq sauce and a dollop of sour cream...
and a big pot full of vegetarian slow 24 hour baked beans...
little corn bun...
For dessert: strawberries with crushed meringue cookies all folded with whipped cream... Jason calls it Strawberry Eden Mist... it was yummy...

to save our friendship…

I bought her love back with a piece of bread

dinner!

Cachapas!!! … Jay has recreated Phil's recipe… it was fantastic… dare I say even better… oh yum…so cheesy … it was special Mexican cheese…
then a bit of whole wheat pasta in a bacon, tomato, pea sauce
of course topped with some freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano

shiny grumpy

it was raining today…

she hates it…. I got no love when we got back from our walk… none… not even eye contact… refused to eat her treat as well… she looks like a wet chicken and she's harsh...
Cherry wasn't impressed with the weather either… but she's not about to refuse food because of it :)

ever heard the famous song by Mariah Carey "Ken Leee"

Idol auditions are funny in any country…

toasting St. Paddy's and 4th with a drink and a burger

green beer is gross… but a green martini deliciousThe gourmet burger:
sesame seed bun, Brie cheese, beef patty, grilled zucchini, roasted red pepper, yellow tomato… the other side of the bun had a bit of mayo and some red leaf lettuce
served with slices of grilled sweet potato...

on Sunday we made pizzas

Jay got things rolling by making the dough (oh yeah from scratch)…first creation: yellow and red tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, and fresh basil
second creation: basil pesto, marinated artichokes, roasted red peppers, and two types of Brie
I had a couple of slices of the second one today for lunch…. it was still delicious.
