ewww.. there is a dirty fingerprint in my yogurt...

all I can say is I won't be buying this brand anymore....

coconuts

last night.....
the 11 o'clock news was on... and the reporter was discussing Andrea Horwath who is to succeed Howard Hampton...

Jay: "Howard Hampton is such a coconut."
Me: "What's with you and coconuts?"
Jay: " Coconuts are a dumb fruit, they just fall to the ground."

*sigh*.... yup he's all mine ...

dinner in Brampton...

it was a family gathering... even Mike's parents were present... and once again mom went all out...

tomato soup...kopytka...
chicken schnitzels...
sauerkraut salad
beef...
mushroom sauce...
beet salad...
meat gravy...
potatoes with lots of dill....
for dessert Mike's mom made a coffee cake...
mom defrosted some cream puffs...
and together with Karolina they created one of the tallest cakes...
everything was super delicious... I missed a couple of dishes if you can believe it...

dinner at Kinga's

mmmmm Kinga should cook for us more often... she made artichoke spinach dip.... I could have just eaten that all night....I really like her citrus water... refreshing...
and then... yummers... vegetarian enchiladas...
white...
for dessert chocolate mousse/truffle slice.....

a rainy Saturday morning...

breakfast...

we tried the Butler's Pantry on Queen St. ...
I had Eggs Benedict...
and Jay had a tomato and feta cheese omelet....
it was fresh and delicious.... the only drawback... the screaming baby at the opposite table...

there is always at least one

Because of the extended York University strike I finished my fall term exams last week instead of December. One of the exams was in math. I've already written a few of those, and over the years had only one calculus professor who did not allow calculators during the exam (but then again once you figured out the gist of the problem you didn't need one to solve it). In all my other math courses, calculator during the exam was essential... I just can't solve Poisson equations in my head... although I wish I could.

Anywho what I'm getting at is that during this math exam as in my previous ones, there is always at least one dodo who approaches the prof asking for a calculator or even more dumbfounding a pencil.... I just don't get it what kind of scatter brained ditz comes so unprepared... I mean this was a math course... a calculator was essential for the whole term...

so... I lent the fool without a pencil one of my own. I'd be damned if I was going to help out the one without the calculator. But you'd be right in guessing that I had two. The reason for it: I have this irrational fear that the battery will run out halfway through and then I'd be one of those unprepared losers.

Jason suggested I just carry some extra batteries if that should ever happen. But that's just not rational. I'd be wasting precious moments changing them. It makes much more sense to just have an extra calculator... and maybe some extra batteries as well.......

HAPPY SQUARE ROOT DAY !!!

If you have never heard of this holiday.. it may be because it only occurs 9 times in a century. Square Root Day falls on a date when the day and the month are both the square root of the last two digits of the current year... and today is 03/03/09... to celebrate I'm going to have a beet salad.... (beets are root vegetables... so maybe I'll also cut some pieces into squares)... I think this day should also be a statutory holiday....

this is a good bonus...

This past Sunday I went to Shoppers Drug Mart to pick up a few essentials. As I was cashing out I found out that since I spent over $50.00, I get a $10.00 Tim Horton's card. It made my day... after all it's Roll Up The Rim time....

oh pumpkin what's wrong with your face?

Jay's taking her to the vet today to find out....
UPDATE: It's a bad tooth infection. Surgery is scheduled for Wednesday. The vet requested a pee sample... ummm yeah she's on her own on that one... I'm not going to even try, unless she's fine with a pee soaked soil sample...

one of my favorite meals

Jason's kitchen sink salad... with roasted mini red potatoes...
and fresh garlic bread...

all the way from Spain

thank you Jayne
