Sunset on March 13th/07

Burgers for Dinner…

I've been craving a burger for a while now… there is no fast food joint that can beat Jay's perfect patty…

Spring Teaser…

We're going to be experiencing temperatures below zero once again next week… but today… 10 degrees… it was nice…

8am at York...

Dinner: Monday, March 12th, 2007

Guests: Kinga, Lisa, Jay and I

The Menu:

Drink: My tropical mix… (Malibu coconut rum, pineapple and white cranberry juice)

Appetizer: mini hot/sweet peppers stuffed with brie cheese for me and goat cheese for the rest of the crowd… very yummy once I ate mine I wished I cracked some black pepper on them…

Main: Oriental cold glass noodle salad, panko crusted pan fired triangles of firm tofu (that was marinated in hoisin sauce, fresh tamarind, chili sauce, soya sauce, ginger, garlic, coriander root), garnished with enoki mushrooms… all served along some steamed Chinese greens with Jason's ginger chili dressing… this was super good… I had leftovers today for lunch… yummmers…

Dessert: mmmm…mmmm…mmmm…. Lisa made coconut chocolate chip cupcakes… so pretty and delicious… had another one today…

CLH L (Curtis Lecture Hall L)

Between psychology and biology this is the room I spend the most time in while at school… and nothing beats rolling up the rim… even though the only thing I rolled up so far is "Please Play Again"…

Dinner: Monday, March 5th, 2007

Monday dinner did not go exactly as planned this week. Unfortunately Kinga and Lisa could not make it because of the insane traffic in the city. Part of Gardiner closed and confusion ensued … since all this mayhem occurred in the afternoon we found out late that the girls wouldn’t be able to come… and dinner has already been started… well I still took pictures of it… please try not to lick the screen…

The Menu:

Openning drink: Malibu coconut rum with pineapple and white cranberry juice… mmmm

Appetizer: Mini corn and crab puddings/muffins served with dill sour cream… (one word… unfreakingbelivable) (Jay made 3 dozen of them so that you guys could take some home… ummm well don’t worry, I’ll make sure they don’t go bad)

Main Course: Dragon risotto (the rice is black in the box, cooks up very dark purple) with 2 large sea scallops seasoned with saffron salt, and wild Irish sockeye salmon… (it’s impossible to put the flavor of this dish into words, but I’ll try)… DIVINE

Dessert: Well as cupcakes did not make an appearance (we’re hoping to see them next time) … we decided to forgo the dessert.

I must say it was very, very delicious, and must point out a crucial rule, Jay has yet to repeat a meal for the get together dinners (yes…I mean we’ve had risotto before but it was never the same risotto)… since this meal was planed to be a get together dinner… when I asked him.. the Chef informed me that he will be unable to replicate it since he refuses to compromise this rule… sorry girls… enjoy the pics…

(Tip: if you click on any of the pictures, they’ll open up in a new screen… supersized)

Winter Shoes…

The socks belong to Honey… her feet are so small that when we go out in cold weather, they shrink even more and the tiniest shoes we could buy are too big and slip off.. so yeah we had to bulk her up a bit… the pink ones belong to Cherry... the Spiderman boots are mine…

Dinner: Monday Feb. 19th, 2007

Guests: Lisa, Kinga, Jay and I

Dinner was so delish this week… a twist on chili potato skins due to our resident vegetarian… hahaha…

- Baked potato skins stuffed with vegetable ratatouille.. toped with some white and yellow cheddar sided with little gems lettuce with roasted tomato vinaigrette… yummers… I had to stop myself from licking my plate clean

Dessert was inspired by a jar of blueberry compote that we had for the longest time..

- Lemon angel food cake with the said blueberry compote and unsweetened whipped cream

I have to say… damn I’m good… that’s right I baked it from scratch.. bought the special cake thing for it too. I almost let Jay bake it, but then couldn’t let him do it.. he doesn’t really have patience for measuring ingredients…

Next dinner will feature mini cornbread puddings (we tested the recipe today… thumbs up)… and Lisa is making cupcakes for dessert… we love cupcakes

I wonder who’s hiding from the cold in there…

Winter in Toronto...

The storm is finally over but now we are in the deep freeze, it is so cold outside, the minute I stepped out today it felt like thousands of little needles pricking my legs… despite the discomfort I enjoyed my walk. If you can get over the cold, it’s a beautiful day today, I went to the park to take some pictures… lol… I was the only one there, walking thru the piles of snow, it was great…
