Miami Day 5: Aug. 24th

Our last day in Miami. We had breakfast on the patio of the Front Porch on Ocean Drive. It was delicious. Cafe con leche to start the day.....
Cinnamon French toast and fresh fruit for me...
For Jay ham and green onion scrambled eggs with some of the best skillet potatoes ever, toast and some tomato and lettuce...
our breakfast view...
there is something different about South Beach mannequins.... hmmmm
oh my, mannequin nipple gate...
that is quite a Naomi Campbell likeness....
coconut in the grass....
After our wonderful breakfast, we headed to the beach to pick some souvenirs... we came upon this poor washed up crab... sadly I arrived too late to save the little bugger....
ummmm i flipped him over for a better shot....
another South Beach mascot sighting..
We spent a couple of hours picking shells. The heat made it quite a workout... we decided to head to hotel Delano for a refreshment. The reason we chose Delano is because a food network personality has a Weekend Getaway show and recommended it as the best place for a mojito, and putting one's feet up after some Miami sight seeing, in the fabulous Alice in Wonderland inspired garden. Well she sucks because once we showed up we were informed by a very friendly employee that the hotel garden is for registered guests only... however it does become open to public at 7pm. That is a tad too late for us, we had other plans...so we thanked him and left... well not before I took some pictures. The garden isn't all she made it out to be either...
The lobby was fabulous. Walking thru we saw their wonderful sushi bar... maybe I'll stay there one day....
For lunch he headed to La Sandwicherie... the sandwiches were unbelievably good...
making the sandwich...
I had turkey with swiss cheese...
Jay had ham and salami with provolone...
After lunch we grabbed our suits and towels and headed to the beach. No camera just us the lotion, the calmest ocean ever, and time to unwind. We got sunburned... but not painfully... Then we headed to our room, showered, relaxed and got ready for dinner. We decided to eat somewhere on the Lincoln Avenue. After a bit of walking and sightseeing we decided on Italian at Carnivale Restaurant. We had good seats...
contemplating the menu...
two of the best mojitos ever...
For Jay veal piccata with penne in tomato sauce...
For me house made white and green spaghetti with shrimp, peas, tomato, in tomato-cream-vodka sauce... delicious
for dessert we headed to our icecream place... and we shared caramel-fuge sundae... I forgot to take pictures till it was too late...
taking a walk... some people learning to samba or mambo..
Ocean Drive at night...
I really wanted to buy one... but the smallest was $600 and the biggest $6000... well at least I have these pictures... maybe next time...
