new Keg has opened in the city

in the Yonge, Eglinton area... our friend Adrian is on the opening team, and he got us in on a special treat. The steakhouse officially opens on Monday, a few days running up to it they're doing a sort of a dry run, getting their kitchen and front of the house staff in gear. Drinks are half-price and the meal is free. We had a wonderful short menu to choose from... here goes...

Jay and I came in a few minutes before Adrian... a beer for him and a Forbidden Fruit martini for me...
then Adrian turned up... fashionably late... and dinner started...
we shared our two appetizer options: Keg Caesar Salad and Mushrooms Neptune... both classics and both delicious... but I forgot to take a picture of the salad...we were hungry
three glasses of wine... Jay had a Chianti (right), Adrian had a Cabernet (left), and I had a Shiraz (center)...
We had four options for main course... we couldn't repeat our choices... no one went with the Teriyaki Chicken...

Jason's choice: a classic prime rib dinner with garlic mashed potatoes, frizzled onions, horseradish, and red wine herb au jus
I had: a medium rare filet with double baked potato, Parmesan tomato, and Bearnaise sauce
Adrian chose the Dungeness Crab dinner, which was served with melted butter and a baked potato... looks awesome, and was very tasty... but it requires a bit too much work to get at the good stuff in my opinion...
Adrian made a crab and butter artery clogger...
we also shared a side of Portabella and Button Mushrooms... but once again I was too late with the camera...

and there was only one choice for dessert, which we all shared... Billy Miner Pie... yum...
and that was that... a very fun evening... especially since I ended up with a slice of cheesecake... the table next to us asked to have their dessert to go... but they left before the waiter had time to place the order and package it... so since Adrian is an awesome tipper he offered it to us... and a cheesecake lover cannot refuse one of the best cheesecakes she's ever tasted... had it today for dinner... creamy, delicious, and I didn't have to share... Jay's at work ;)
